Options for Signing Up with Chef's Shared Kitchen

There are several way to utilize Chef's Shared Kitchen, with different requirements and regulations associated to each. This page describes the options for using Chef's Shared Kitchen.

Ongoing Use
Below describes how Chef's Shared Kitchen can be used for commercial and non commercial food preparation on an ongoing/regualar basis.
  • Commercial Cooking - Kitchen and Commissary
    • Kitchen Facilities
      • For food sold to the public (as required by the Health Department to be prepared in a commercial kitchen).
        • Exception: Non-Potentially hazardous baked goods (retail only, no wholesale). Check with the Health Department website relating the Cottage Law for specific requirements. They provide information about the program, program registration, production guidelines, hazardous foods, labeling requirements, food handlers cards, FAQs and more.
      • For food trucks that have made other commissary arrangements (outdoor facilities) but need a place to prepare the food served on the food truck (as required by the Health Department to be prepared in a commercial kitchen).
    • Commissary Facilities
      • For some small mobile units (pushcarts, etc). The Health Department allows Chef's Shared Kitchen to sign a commissary agreement for our Carriage Lane location (Guadalupe Rd & 101) to use our warewashing, gray water disposal, and potable water. Check with Vas at the Health Department (Mobile Unit) if your unit qualifies to use our facilities.
  • Non-Commercial Cooking - Personal Cooking
    • For your personal cooking if a commercial style kitchen is frequently/regularly required.
Single Use
Below describes how Chef's Shared Kitchen can be used for commercial and non commercial food preparation on a single use basis.
  • Commercial Cooking - Special Event
    • For public events (fairs, festivals, etc) required to be prepared in a commercial kitchen.
  • Non-Commercial Cooking - Personal Event
    • For personal events, corporate gatherings, cooking classes, or any other cooking for non-commercial purposes
